‘Steel Magnolias’ Is Coming Back To Theaters For Its 30th Anniversary

It’s been 30 years since “Steel Magnolias” was released, and in celebration of this historic milestone, the classic tearjerker is coming back to theaters. The movie will be available to watch in select theaters nationwide on May 19, 21 and 22. You can get your tickets online now through Fathom Events.

“Steel Magnolias” was based on a play by with the same name. It was inspired by the playwright Robert Harling’s real-life experience of losing his own sister named Susan. The movie stars Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Olympia Dukakis, Daryl Hannah and Shirley MacLaine.

The return of “Steel Magnolias” to the big screen is part of the fourth annual TCM Big Screen Classics series, which brings classic movies back to theaters for a limited time. 14 classic movies are all part of this year’s lineup of favorities, including “The Wizard of Oz,” “Field of Dreams,” “My Fair Lady,” and “When Harry Met Sally.”
