Chanaye Brown started her route as a normal bus driver and ended it saving children’s lives and being hailed as a hero.
Brown was driving her normal route through Milwaukee when she saw flames coming from a window of an apartment building nearby.
She pulled her bus over and ran toward the flames, banging on the door and shouting, while a passenger started calling 911.
Some residents were able to flee, but Brown could hear kids still inside the building, so she ran into the burning building without no thought of her own safety. For her bravery, she was named an honorary fire chief for the day by the Milwaukee Fire Department.
